I overdid it last Wednesday. I just got my bike back from the shop post-crash (more on that another time), so I rode to/from work. I had also taken a break from dodgeball for a few weeks while I recovered from said crash. So of course I decided to ride my bike to dodgeball, play intense dodgeball for 2 hours, then ride back home.
Reminds me of when I initially started playing. This was back in February 2013. I was on Meetup.com to find tech industry user groups and one day I saw the dodgeball Meetup group there and thought it sounded fun.
The first time I went was a Saturday in the back room (smaller space, more dynamic play) and it was so much fun I stayed for the entire 2.5-3 hours. For the next several days it hurt to move. It hurt to think about moving. I’ve never been that sore from athletic adventures. I was also hooked. I couldn’t wait to go back as soon as I could move again. Little did I know that a few months later I would be playing in tournaments and captaining teams in dodgeball leagues. But that’s a story for another day.
